At a glance

  2. Plan outdoor life for the cooler months. The winter camping season runs from late October to April.
  3. Humidity rises from mid July, so late summer can feel hotter than the thermometer says.
  4. Rain is rare, about 77 mm a year, but roads flood quickly when it comes.
  5. Dusty northwesterly winds are most common from May to July.
  6. Pack a light layer for air conditioned buildings, even in summer.
  7. Set air conditioning between 23 and 25°C to keep summer bills down.

Dust

How the seasons shape the year

  • Outdoor work is banned from 10am to 3:30pm every year from 1 June to 15 September.
